Visit to Saiyok with the Founder Written by Administrator    Tuesday, 09 November 2010 14:21 26 September 2010 The founder and I both visited Saiyok this day to see firsthand this beautiful area. We had a nice leisurely drive from Bangkok, stopping along the way for some gas and snacks and then continued onward. First stop was Kanchanaburi, and the War Cemetery where we walked around to build up our appetite before lunch, plus it was also before the place we had intended on eating lunch.  It was a beautifully kept place, with many war memorials and headstones for those that lost their lives in the War.       After this we were hungry so we had lunch at the Felix Rive Kwai Resort. It was an excellent place for lunch, very nice facility and the restaurant had a great view as well.     More touring of the Jeath Museum then on to see some more of the potential hotel properties that will soon be featured on our website.   Finally we ended the day with Dinner and then Ice Cream and Coffee before heading back home to Bangkok. We were right near the Bridge over the River Kwai.   Kanchanaburi and Saiyok are only a short 2 hour drive from Bangkok, you will see some of the most beautiful and pristine country side in Thailand, almost untouched and definitely not overrun by tourists, making it a very enjoyable day trip or weekend visit, easy to get to and very relaxing, good food, and with good friends.   Till next time,   Dan Managing Director Saiyok.com   Last Updated on Tuesday, 09 November 2010 16:14   Uncle Mustache Written by Saiyok Blogger    Friday, 21 August 2009 16:03 Today, I have to recommend my all time favorite small, actually it is more like tiny, restaurant in Saiyok. Uncle mustache serves a “Yam Het”, which is unbeatable. Yam is a sour, often sweet and always spicy Thai style salad and “het” means mushroom. The mushrooms here are extraordinary in taste and freshness and whole experience is difficult to top. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera that day, but there will surely be another time soon.
